Within the framework of the emergence of personnel economics, the differed payment model is confronted with the evolution of human ressource management in France. From the assumptions of the differed payment model we show, in particular, that the renunciation of the systematic wage increases with seniority in France is due to the demographic trends and the inefficiency of this mode of remuneration to encourage the employees to provide a high effort level . In addition, it proves that the principle of the differed payment is more in adequacy with the current merit pay that with systematic remuneration with the seniority whereas this last assumption is usually retained.
