The Cognitive Impact of Quality Standards: Between Organization and Market

This article based on deep empirical work intends to show that the dynamics of learning developed on the process by the quality standards lies in a continuous adaptation of set rules and organization, whereas the effect from the market is quite uncertain. Progress in learning about the process requires to go beyond the limits of set rules as initially planned, and as signaled by the dysfunctionings. It also requires the transformation of the organization so as to correct coordination problems. Such transformations are vital to the dynamics of learning so to carry out the “explorations” March dubbed. However the transformation of the former roles as brought over triggers conflicts which might later block the dynamics initially set.
