Labour Quality Conventions, and Unemployment

This paper intends to emphasize an often neglected aspect of the unemployment process: the role of work assessment related to goods assessment. Attention is focused on the structural unemployment, which is reflected in lasting inequalities connected to job access, and long term unemployment. We try to discover its causes in the ranking of different qualities of work, which are founded on quality conventions. Recommended policies focus on the reconstruction of legitimate agreement, especially about work evaluation, both in firms and on the market.
