Macrofundations and Selection of Institutions in Modern Economic Systems

This paper tries first to define the macro-fondations of the institutions of capitalist and socialist systems as cases of the modern economy. Such an modern economy is considered as a monetary and wage-earner system. Secondly, the criteria of selection of the institutions is discussed in order to explain endogeneous changes and structural transformations. The criteria of organisational or transactional efficiency is minored. It doesn’t only characterized the capitalist systems. The thesis of a technical or organizational determinism is rejected. The hypothesis of a systemic relative non-determination is developped. It is justified by uncertainty (characterizing a monetary economy) and by the social confrontation (characterizing a wage-earner economy).
